Warm up

Pre-teach the words : twinkle, I wonder.

Leaners listen to the song ‘Twinkle, twinkle little star’ and name the objects they know from the lessons about Dark/Light: an owl, stars, dark, night, a tree, sky, cold, clouds and so on.

Leaners make notes of these words.

Who are the heroes of the video?

Are they friends?

Middle

30mins

Learners first talk about which things are sources of light and which things reflect light. Then they put a tick by things which are sources of light and a cross by things which are not.

Ls revise the words from the game ‘Odd one out’.

Teacher asks learners to take one sheet of paper and pencil then starts to say some letters and learner should write them. After saying 2 or 3 letters of the words learners should guess what word is this:

  • Shine
  • Straight line

Reflectors

Give feedback on Leaners’ work.

We see objects when light bounces off them and into our eye.

Draw arrows below to show how this works.

Additional information

Differentiation – how do you plan to give more support? How do you plan to challenge the more able learners?

Assessment – how are you planning to check learners’ learning?

Less able students – greater support by means of prompts, visuals or writing difficult words on the board

More able students – independent work on definite tasks with little/no support

Allow for flexible groupings and cooperative learning, depending on the appropriateness to the task

Allow for extra time for students needing it, when appropriate

Give extra text or visual support to students needing extra English support

Create small learning groups for students needing extra support or enrichment with the co-teacher, when appropriate

through observation

Reflection
